wait, what?

So tomorrow is the 1st of October. It really feels like September just started. Don't know what made this month fly by, but it did. Could be that I still get to do all these fun things, I stay very busy with soccer, or perhaps that I'm just having that fun. Because really, it's ridiculous how fast September went by.

Don't know if it's just here though... Is time just flying by in Sweden or does it have that slow autumn pace like always?

fun food

I've had a lot of good food since I got here. Two months of real home cooked american food, fast food, and great food at erstaurants. Just had chicken and dumplings, really good. But that is also two months of some wierd food.
For example, I've had a fried oreo. Now how gross doesn't that sound? Very. But it really wasn't, it was really good. I've had dippin' dots, which is small ice cream dots, and not like those of ice we had in Sweden once, these were the creamy kind. Another thing, peanut butter & jelly sandwich. Also okay, very sweet. Last night I tried apples and caramel, which is just what it sounds like. Diced apples with a creamy caramel sauce. Also too sweet for me, like the apples as they are.
The hotdogs are also a bit different, here we put on ketchup, mustard, sometimes pickle relish, but also chili and cheese. What else.. Oh! Mayonnaise on the sandwiches instead of butter. Funnel cake, which I already mentioned but just have to bring it up again, we're talking fried batter here. Good if you're in the mood for fatening food. I'll keep you guys updated if any more wierd stuff shows up.

home sweet home

Connie and I got home from Ohio tonight. Visiting her mom, shopping, watching soccer, playing around at a baseball field and just having a good time. But the best part is almost to come home. As we say in Sweden, away is good, but home is the best.

Danger

So we have this game that's like two ours away. We get on the school bus, have our food and people are starting to fall asleep after a while. Me being one of them. I wake up a couple of times but just went back to sleep again. Nothing wierd about that.
Then when we start our warm ups I find out I've got a tattoo on my neck, signed Hannah French. Think Coach Pete had something to do with it as well.. Anyway it started to look sort of like one of those chinese symbols once I started sweating, and coach said this hilarious thing. That it would be funny if I told people it was a swedish symbol for danger. I mean, how funny wouldn't that be if you think about it? Me, having a tattoo, that means danger, on my neck! Simply hilarious. Possibly a third nickname as well...

Sparky

Last saturday was the big birthday party for Blake. I got the mission to be Sparky the Firedog. I remember my cousin being a big tiger for Max and how jealous I was. This time it was my time to shine.
So I got this huge dog costume, huge shoes and a huge head, which could wink with its eyes, speak and transform my voice to sound darker. It also had air condition in it, high tech dog or what? The thing is all of that didn't work for some reason. So I had to talk really loud and with a goofy voice, I could barely see because the eye lids kept closing and I was burning up beacause of the lack of air condition. Remember I had to entertain a bunch of kids at the same time, not the easiest job. But it turned out good and the kids loved me, or well, they loved Sparky...

schwwp?

Caught myself today with answering a question with the yes from Norrland in Sweden. Sort of like a sucking-in-air-sound. The person I told it to looked at me like "whaaaaat?". Had to explain the whole thing and by the end of class everyone was doing it. Hilarious.

Steve's birthday today by the way, tell him happy birthday!

Happy Birthday Steve! Grattis pÄ födelsedagen!

TiVo with Steve-O

Despite my busy schedual I still end up watching a lot more TV here than I did at home. Connie & Steve are just hooking me up with all these great shows. Just watched the Big Brother finale which turned out the way I hoped for. Also watched the first episode of Survivor tonight which I'm gonna follow. And lets not forget about One Tree Hill season 8, every Tuesday at 8. But thanks to soccer season I'll probably not be in front of the TV every time. That's why you gotta love the TiVo.

Livin' a Movie

Orange County, OC and Nelson County, NC. Tree Hill High School and Nelson County High School. It's actually not that much of a difference. The life in the TV-series are really not that far away. The drama that take place in OC and One Tree Hill also takes place here, I can assure you that. It's either love trouble, car crashes, pregnancy, rivalry on your team or just rivalry in general.
Also, my school look so much like the one in One Tree Hill, it is so awsome! All the stuff that's going on in the world of TV the makes so much more sense to me now. Well, at least the world of american TV.

Opposites

Muffins, cinamon buns, donuts and other pastries in the afternoon or for dessert, after dinner, right? Wait no that's breakfust.
Pancakes, bacon, scrambled egs, sausage, that's lunch or dinner, isn't it? No that's breakfust too.
But what about cereals, yoghurt, fruit and some bread for breakfust? Yes, yes, yes and no. The bread goes for as lunch, like sandwhiches. It's not right, not wrong, just different.

Every time I pull out a cheese sandwhich for breakfust the girls still look at me with that wierd face. And every time they get a donut the first thing in the morning I give them the same look. But it's all in good fun, at least we keep each other entertained.

Labor Day weekend

This weekend has been so american like you don't even know. We're talkin' road trip, chicken wings, fire works, football and a lot of fun people. We went to New Port, that are just on the other side of the river from Cincinatti, for Labor Day. We were a bunch of people who met up at a parking lot, playing all these games, ate food and had a good time. Then we went down to the Ohio River to watch the fire works. As I said, it was really american, very grand, not just the amount of it, but the combination of music and colors to it, imagine a lot of red, blue and white.

Then of course today, the day we had off we did some sightseeing in New Port. I am from Sweden after all. Got some good pictures, saw some high school football (Connie & Steve's son Caleb coaches a team there), and oh, speaking of! We met a guy who has been playing professional football in NFL, very cool.
Another good weekend here in the States, and speaking of states! I have now been in four of them, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, you do the math.

Chicken Catcher

I've heard the story of Paul Potts and Susan Boyle from Britains Got Talent. But I had never heard the story of Kevin Skinner until tonight. He was here in Bardstown tonight and we had two free tickets, so why not? Neither one of us are that big fans of country music, but still we had a good time.

Plus I had my first corn dog, and it was okay, it really was. You just can't be that picky about food here, luckily I'm not.

Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqhbAZXB6JM

Project straightening

So the girls here have wanted to straighten my hair since the first week I got here basically. Tonight they get their wish. Paige and Hannah got the mission and they are going at it right now. Almost everyone straighten their hair here and they are so excited about me getting it done. It'll be fun to see everyones faces tonight at the game. I'm more excited because it's the first home football game.

9:06 AM

So I'm done with my power point in my Food Science class and I'm thinking, what can make the time pass by.. That's when I go to Google maps and start looking at pictures of Visby. Sentimantal? I don't think so, it just makes me happy. But I miss it, I do. Also miss all of you guys at home. But no, I'm not sentimental. Just need you to know that.
